Birth as a Birthright
The last year or so I’ve been fascinated with birth.
As I share in my goal setting and manifestation workshop, Remembering the Future, I believe that inspiration (along with pleasure and joy) is how our intuition speaks to us and so I’ve been indulging my curiosity.
It turns out that learning about birth has been incredible for my business.
No, I’m not planning on switching careers again to become a doula (although I might do a training, just for the fun of it). Studying the birth process has taught me so much about creation, intuition and the power of surrender.
I’ve been applying what I learn to my work, and sharing this new approach to conceiving and caring for a business with my coaching clients. It’s been pretty revelatory.
Speaking of my coaching clients… one of my favorite things about my work is getting to learn from the incredible folks who I support.
More and more as I focus my work on helping women with their careers and businesses, I get to know some rad people doing equally rad things in this world. It’s truly my honor to support these women in building work lives that align with their souls and unique purposes on this planet.
Emily Magee is one of those women - she and I connected a few years back, bonding over our shared transition from corporate accounting to careers in wellness. I’ve loved watching her business flourish, especially over the last year when, despite her in-person nutrition practice geting shut down due to the pandemic, she was able to pivot, offer her services online and actually expand her practice.
In addition to being a nutritionist and healer, Emily is a childbirth educator, doula and mama of two boys who were birthed at home! Given my current interests, I asked her if she would let me speak with her about birth and she generously agreed.
The conversation that ensued was a juicy one! We dove right into the topic of birth, focusing on what modern society doesn't teach us and how to approach conception from a more empowered, more intuitive place.

As we reflected towards the end of the video, our conversation truly only touched the tip of the birth iceberg. I’ve linked some additional resources in the YouTube caption in case, like me, you’re interested in going deeper.
